DEPARTED: Independence Missouri at 2 p.m.
ARRIVED: Nauvoo, Illinois at 9 p.m.
VISITED: Nauvoo Temple

This is a statue of Joseph and Hyrum that sits on the West side of the temple grounds. "In life they were not divided; in death they were not separated.
VISITED: Smith Family Cemetery

Joseph Smith Senior, Lucy Mack Smith, Joseph Smith Junior, Emma Smith, Hyrum Smith and others are buried here.

Hyrum Smith, Joseph Smith, and Emma Smith from left to right. Hyrum died with Joseph in the Carthage Jail. Emma remained in Nauvoo after the church moved West; an "Elect lady . . ." she remained in Nauvoo until her passing in 1879.

The Prophet Joseph Smith's father (Joseph Smith Sr) passed before Joseph Jr. The prophet's mother passed in Nauvoo in 1856.
VISITED: Carthage Jail
The bullet that went through this hole hit and killed Hyrum Smith.
Joseph Smith was shot as he tried to leap from this upper window. He landed near this well.

This statue of Joseph and Hyrum is located outside of the Carthage Jail. The love between these brothers prompted us to name our second son Hyrum because of the love that we felt would exist between him and his older brother Sylvan. When we were blessed with twin boys in 2010 we had to have a Joseph . . . so we named the first twin to be born "Matthew Joseph Scott"
VISITED: Nauvoo LDS Visitors Center

This and many other statues outside the Nauvoo Visitors center glorify Womanhood. Most of the statues here were sculpted by my My mother's cousin Dennis Smith

We loved the Family Services Building in Historic Nauvoo. In this scene we braded a rope. The rope is hanging up in our kitchen.

Sylvan, Marinn, Korie, Hyrum, Mommy, and myself all took a turn on these.

"How does this work?"
We took two buggy tours through Nauvoo. The girls loved the horses.

Our guide on the tour was excellent. We loved the kind and gentle spirits of all of the senior couples that served in and around Nauvoo.

Many of the Saints had already left Nauvoo for the West before the temple was fully dedicated. When it was finally completed and dedicated, Anti Mormon sentiment grew; they became more angry that we were not gone and they wondered how the Saints could complete the temple and then leave. That temple was long ago destroyed; this new temple built as a replica is a beautiful haven for the Spirit of God to rest.
TOTAL MILES: It was 275 miles from Independence to Nauvoo. The drive for us became very lengthy because we had to make several stops. We were delighted to see fireflys as we drove through the evening through Missouri. That was a real treet.
